SensMax TAC-B 3D-W Indoor People Counting Radar
SensMax TAC-B 3D-W is an indoor mmWave radar people counting sensor for real-time people counting, occupancy monitoring, and visitor flow analysis. This Wi-Fi radar counter is designed for shops, offices, libraries, museums, washrooms, and other public indoor areas.
Using advanced mmWave radar technology instead of cameras, it delivers accurate, privacy-safe analytics in any lighting conditions – including shade, glare, and complete darkness – making it a reliable camera-free solution for indoor environments that require anonymous counting and occupancy data.

Camera-free people counting radar detects direction and speed indoors for instant footfall and occupancy statistics in a shopping mall.
At a glance
- Camera-free people counting without cameras (no filming)
- Privacy-safe people counting with anonymous detection and GDPR-compliant use
- Works in shade, glare, and complete darkness
- Coverage up to ~10 m / 120° (~100 m²) with flexible line/zone logic
- Wi-Fi data delivery to ready-to-use business reports in real time
Why Radar Instead of Cameras
If your environment is privacy-sensitive, radar is a business-smart choice. TAC-B is designed for people counting without cameras: it does not create video, does not record faces, and does not store images – because there are no images to capture in the first place.
That means GDPR-compliant people counting is not something you “add later” with masking or extra processes. You start with anonymous detection by design – helping you reduce privacy risk while still getting dependable footfall and occupancy insights.
Just as importantly for operations: radar works regardless of lighting, including complete darkness, so you don’t need to engineer the space around a camera system.

How TAC-B Works
TAC-B uses a 60 GHz mmWave module to detect movement vectors and classify traffic as IN / OUT. You define up to five virtual counting lines and zones within the device’s coverage area, and the sensor continuously calculates counts, occupancy levels, and dwell/occupancy time.
Results are transmitted over Wi-Fi to Ready-to-use business reports in real time. For system integrators and enterprise environments, data can also be exported via REST API, MQTT, and webhooks.
Business Benefits
This is where mmWave radar people counting becomes valuable for retail chains, shopping centres, public-space operators, and integrators: it gives you reliable numbers you can act on – without introducing camera-related privacy complexity.
Use TAC-B To:
- Understand footfall trends across entrances, areas, and time periods
- Improve staffing decisions by aligning schedules to real peak periods
- Measure space utilisation (how busy zones are, how flows change during the day)
- Support privacy requirements with anonymous, camera-free counting
- Trigger actions through integrations and alerts (automation, signage, reporting)
Where TAC-B Is Used
TAC-B is designed for a wide range of indoor projects where privacy and reliability matter:
- Retail & shopping centres (entrances, zones, conversion and traffic patterns)
- Offices & meeting rooms (space utilisation insights)
- Public buildings (libraries, museums, public facilities)
- Washrooms (cleaning/service triggers based on usage)
- Digital signage / info-kiosks (measure how many people stop and engage)

SensWeb Ready-to-use business reports, and Integrations
TAC-B feeds live ready-to-use business reports so teams can see occupancy, visitor flows, and trends – without manual data handling.
The device processes data on the sensor and sends anonymous events to the SensMax Cloud or a local server, then groups them into time-series reporting for day-to-day visibility.
For operations and reporting workflows, you can:
- Export data via REST API to BI tools and custom ready-to-use business reports
- Stream real-time occupancy/flow via MQTT
- Trigger actions using webhooks (alerts, automation, signage changes)
- Use CSV/PDF exports for internal reporting and documentation
Installation & Privacy
Installation is designed to be straightforward: mount TAC-B on a sidewall or indoor structure (recommended ~2.5 m height), connect power, and join the building’s Wi-Fi network. Wi-Fi modes supported include open, WPA2-PSK, hidden SSID, and WPA2-Enterprise.
From a privacy standpoint, TAC-B is built for privacy-safe people counting: anonymous detection, no filming, no personal data, and no storage of images – supporting GDPR-compliant people counting in workplaces and public buildings.

Typical data flow: TAC-B 3D-W radar → Wi-Fi network → SensMax Cloud / local server → dashboards, alerts, and third-party systems.

Choosing Radar vs. IR sensors
Radar (TAC-B) is ideal when you want modern, non-intrusive mmWave radar people counting that is camera-free and privacy-first for compliance-sensitive indoor spaces.
For projects where you want an efficient and cost-effective entrance counting approach, SensMax also offers IR people counters designed for simple setups.
FAQ – Indoor Projects
Does TAC-B Record Images of Visitors?
No. It measures movement and distance only. It does not record faces or video, so the statistics remain anonymous and GDPR compliant.
Will It Work In Dark Corridors?
Yes. mmWave radar works in full darkness as well as bright light.
Can I See How Many People Are Inside In Real Time?
Yes. The sensor calculates IN and OUT movements and shows real-time occupancy in ready-to-use business reports; this value can also be sent to third-party systems via API or MQTT.
Is Wi-Fi Required?
This model is designed for Wi-Fi networks and supports common security modes, including WPA2-Enterprise.
