SensMax SPS20 Solar Power System for Outdoor People Counting and Bike Counting Sensors

The SensMax SPS20 solar power system provides a reliable solar power source for outdoor people counting sensors and bike counting radar units in non-electricity or off-grid areas. Designed for SensMax TAC-B 3D-WP and TAC-B 4G sensors, the SPS20 ensures uninterrupted operation by combining a solar panel, charge controller, and LiFePO4 rechargeable battery into a compact solution.

How It Works

The system captures solar energy through a high-efficiency panel and stores it in a LiFePO4 battery managed by a smart charge controller. Power is delivered continuously to connected people counting or bike counting radar sensors, even in remote areas without electricity or internet. When sunlight is unavailable, the battery provides 65–85 hours of backup operation depending on sensor settings, ensuring uninterrupted sensor functionality. The controller prevents overcharging and deep discharging, extending battery life and guaranteeing stable performance in all seasons.  Download PDF Datasheet

All-in-one solar panel, controller, and battery unit for powering outdoor people counting radar sensors.

Key Technical Advantages

  • Easy installation — pre-wired components simplify setup, requiring minimal technical knowledge.
  • Smart power management — automatic switching between solar and battery supply, with charging safeguards.
  • Waterproof design — IP67 rating protects against rain, snow, and dust for year-round use.
  • Eco-friendly solution — reduces carbon footprint by using renewable energy to power people and bike counting projects.
  • Off-grid capability — supports up to 65–85 hours of operation without sunlight, depending on settings.

Real-World Applications

  • Smart city projects — monitor pedestrian and bike flows to improve transport planning and optimize urban spaces.
  • Walking trails — count visitors in natural areas without disturbing the environment or relying on grid electricity.
  • Outdoor retail kiosks — collect visitor statistics for decision-making in markets and shopping areas located off-grid.
  • National parks — track visitor activity to support funding, plan maintenance, and manage conservation areas.
  • Public events — provide power to people counting sensors at fairs, concerts, or sports events without cables or generators.
  • Urban redevelopment — collect reliable pedestrian data to guide investments in revitalized public spaces.
  • Botanical gardens & landmarks — ensure continuous counting for long-term analysis in cultural and historical sites.
  • Nature reserves — deploy eco-friendly sensors that collect data without harming wildlife habitats.
  • Recreational facilities — monitor usage of swimming pools, sports complexes, or playgrounds without new infrastructure.
  • Cruise terminals & marinas — analyze visitor flows to improve passenger experience and operational planning.

Business Impact

The SPS20 solar system enables continuous visitor monitoring where electricity is not available. Municipalities, event organizers, and park managers can now collect reliable statistics at low cost and without additional infrastructure. This data helps allocate resources more efficiently, justify budgets, and improve visitor satisfaction while aligning with sustainability goals.

Example in Action

A municipality planned to monitor visitor flows on a popular riverside walking trail. Previous projects were delayed because connecting sensors to electricity pillars required permits, wiring, and contractor work. With the SensMax SPS20 solar power system, technicians installed TAC-B sensors within hours — no cables, no paperwork, and no waiting for approvals. The system immediately started collecting real-time pedestrian and cyclist data. Thanks to the quick deployment, city staff adjusted maintenance schedules within the same season and used the reliable statistics to secure funding for expanding the trail network.
